A 13-yar-old boy was held in custody today after being charged with shooting and killing his cousin, 16 while he was asleep.
According to a report released by Chicago police after the incident, the murder occurred after the two had a dispute over an Xbox. Around 5 a.m., Raymond Galloway was shot in the head and was pronounced dead 90 minutes later.
According to Tandra Simonton, a spokeswoman for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, a fired 9mm cartridge was found in the teenage suspect’s room and a matching handgun was later found at the home.
Despite the murder allegedly having been committed by a minor, no adult has been linked to the ownership of the gun, according to prosecutors. The boy was formally charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody.
