A website is keeping track of deaths and injuries that have occurred as a result of Black Friday events over the years. Blackfridaydeathcount.com keeps a record of deaths and injuries from Black Friday sales all the way back to 2006. Over the past seven years, the site has recorded seven deaths and 88 injuries, with the most recent death occurring this year with a teenager falling asleep at the wheel and crashing.
As if the death and injury count wasn’t enough to remind you of the somber side of the shopping event, the site also links news reports to each incident that has resulted in death or injury. Each link describes myriad car crashes, shootings, stabbings and everything in between.
In 2013 alone, the site has recorded 14 injuries stemming from Black Friday violence, with four occurring at Wal-Mart locations.
