More occurrences of violence at Wal-Mart store locations due to Black Friday sales have been reported in locations across the country. The chaos of the Black Friday event made itself known in Rialto, Calif. as two people were arrested for fighting on the store’s parking lot on Thursday, injuring a police officer in the process.
Raymond Leonard Rice, 25, and 31-year-old relative Chennel Coleman Smith were taken into custody after assaulting a customer walking in the lot.
Rice and Smith also proceeded to attack police officers as they were trying to apprehend the two. During the fight, an officer who was attempting to contain the situation fractured his right hand and finger, according to Rialto police. Both suspects were charged with suspicion of assault on a police officer and assault with a deadly weapon.
The violence continued in other states. At a Wal-Mart location in New Boston, OH, a woman was injured after being trampled by fellow customers inside the store. It was reported that an ambulance arrived at the scene Thursday evening to treat a woman for injuries.
