Wholesale retailer Costco has issued an apology for the misunderstanding that has occurred due to an accidental labeling of the Bible as “fiction.” The mistake was caught by local pastor Caleb Kaltenbach and was made viral after Kaltenbach posted a picture of the error on twitter.

Since the controversial labeling of the book was revealed, the retailer has released a public statement, crediting the issue to one of its distributors.

“Costco’s distributor mislabeled a small percentage of the Bibles, however we take responsibility and should have caught the mistake. We are correcting this with them for future distribution. In addition, we are immediately relabeling all mislabeled Bibles. We greatly apologize for this error.”
