In what possibly may be the biggest move of the offseason so far, the Detroit Tigers traded first baseman Prince Fielder to the Texas Rangers in exchange for second baseman Ian Kinsler on Wednesday.

Pending league approval, the trade between the two American League powerhouses will also include a $30 million transfer from Detroit to Texas, and the trade is still dependent on the waiving of respective no-trade clauses.

The Tigers will now share the cost of the remaining seven years of Fielder’s contract, paying an annual amount of $4.29 million.

This move comes off the heels of a dynamic 2013 season for Detroit, which ended in an elimination in the ALCS to the Boston Red Sox.

Thinking toward the future, the Tigers can now look to secure AL MVP Miguel Cabrera and AL Cy Young award winner Max Scherzer for the years to come.
