Snowden claims NSA will have access to iPhone 5S fingerprints

By: Vic Diaz

Since being revealed as the individual who was exposing government secrets to the public, Edward Snowden has been keeping busy through social media.

Snowden, through his twitter account (@EJosephSnowden), has recently made the claim that the NSA will have access to user data through Apple’s new Touch ID system for its iPhone 5S models. Snowden has credited the website Hackers News Bulletin for leaking the information, which contains a quote from Tim Richardson, District Manager of Apple’s North America Marketing Department, confirming the connection with the NSA and Apple’s newest innovation.

“Absolutely the databases will be merged. This whole ‘fingerprint scan’ idea originated from someone in our government. They just didn’t expect to be outed by Snowden, you know,” Richardson reportedly told a freelance reporter for an independent publication.
